Urgent Question on Seaborne Freight
Today I tabled an Urgent Question to demand answers from Transport Secretary Chris Grayling on the legality of the procurement process in the case of Seaborne Freight, the shipping company with no ships.
The Contract Award Notice confirms that normal procurement rules were circumvented by the UK Government for reasons of “extreme urgency” brought about by “unforeseeable events” - yet a no deal Brexit was foreseen quite some time ago.
I asked Chris Grayling to publish the legal advice which convinced him he was acting properly, and to confirm how much money the Government has set aside to deal with the possibility of court action.
You can watch me questioning the Secretary of Statehere.
