Youth Vision & the Harhut
I am always delighted to get the opportunity to spend time in the beautiful Pentland Hills, and this week it was to visit local charity Youth Vision, who have partnered with Civic Soup to rebuild an old farmhouse into a community meeting place called the Harhut.
I spent a lovely morning toasting crumpets on an open fire and chatting to some of the young people involved in the project about the work they have put into both the farmhouse, the Harhut and the surrounding garden and grounds. They also gave me a tour of their fruit and vegetable gardens, which were flourishing in the glorious weather and full of produce which they have used to make jams and elderflower cordial.
This was perhaps the highlight of the summer so far, and I am very much looking forward to paying another visit later this year to see the progress they have made.
